Choosing the right assisted living community can seem like a daunting task. Not only does the array of services and apartment styles vary widely, but the daily experiences and unique attributes of each community are different. 1. **Food**
With made-to-order, cooked-from-scratch meals at any time of the day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., we take pride in our unique dining program. But, what do our residents have to say about it? “You can’t find a more perfect place. The food is outstanding. It is just outstanding!” says Janice.
1. **Activities**
Whether you take a trip to the movie theatre, the “man cave” (complete with pool table and shuffle board), or simply choose to sit on your balcony and enjoy live music in the centrally located courtyard, your days are as busy as you choose to be. And when asked how Janice planned to spend her weekend? “Friday morning is yoga. Tonight, we have happy hour, which everybody enjoys. Tomorrow at six o’clock my husband and I will be at nightcap. And then Saturday night is movie night and we’ll be seeing Dunkirk.”
1. **Couples Care**
It’s so important to us, we gave it a name. Couples hold a special place for us at Highgate. We believe in keeping couples together as long as possible. “We’ve been married for 60 years, and the other night when our kids came to celebrate with us at dinner, they \[Highgate team members\] surprised us with a cake. Now, how many places do you know that would do that,” says Janice, who moved from another assisted living community in Victorville to live at Highgate.

It takes a special person to care for others, and we’ve hired the best! “The caregivers are absolutely wonderful!” say Mary Lou. “I’m very happy here, very, very happy. And of course, my daughters are really glad that I am here.”
