You’re overwhelmed with making the decision on what to do next. Where do you start? When you begin searching for a memory care community, start by speaking with friends and family. Ask them about their experience with different communities. Then, make a list of the communities you want to visit. Bringing your loved one with dementia along on the tours for the first time can be overwhelming for them – no matter what stage of dementia they are in. After you’ve found a community that you think would be a great fit, visit the community again with your loved one by eating lunch there or attending a program that they may be interested in. When deciding on the right community, keep your loved one with dementia involved in the process.
