Slideshow: How Highgate Helps Seniors Stay Safely Connected

When social distancing protocols changed the way senior living communities conduct activities, the activity calendar wasn’t simply tossed in the trash.

How Highgate Helps Seniors Stay Safely Connected

At Highgate, the activities program — better known as the Life Enhancement Program — is driven by the residents’ wants, needs, and interests.

Each community’s Life Enhancement Coordinator gets to know the residents and continuously checks in with them to ensure they’re planning programming that brings meaning to their day and allows them to live a life of purpose. One day, they might create blankets for nonprofits. Next, they might go ziplining.

So when social distancing protocols changed the way senior living communities conduct activities, the activity calendar wasn’t simply tossed in the trash. Highgate’s Life Enhancement Team was prepared to come up with creative new ways for residents to learn, engage, and connect — safely.

Visit each community’s Facebook page to see not only how a normal day might look but also how the Life Enhancement Teams are getting creative in engaging residents while following social distancing protocol.
